Currently it is 2:30 A.M here. I'm still up because of a long list of things. Mainly due to my procrastination skills with my online summer course, composition. Ironic how an author failed a freshman writing course? I thought so. Anyways I'm taking one over the summer to prove I'm not a worthless typing machine. So far? I'm proving I was right to stay into writing... I hope. Today the final draft of the first paper was due! Waited till two hours before the due time to revise it... I made it though and it was turned in on time! It was titled: "Equality's Cage" which I'm hoping to post here, unless the grade on it is wretched. In which case I will promptly 'accidentally' lose all records of it on my computer.
Anyways, I haven't written that much this week! Spent a lot of time away from home at concerts and friends houses! But I do have at least one neat writing opportunity at the moment! And a few more a little later down the road! Right now I'm writing a scene from my story dealing with Kara (Not sure of a name for this story as of yet, another thing to work on!) and editing a couple previously written scenes to submit to a film director of small indie films on youtube. He currently is holding a contest and the winner he will turn their creative story into a film! Albeit a short, youtube styled, film but a film nonetheless! He has at least 1000 subscribers on Facebook last time I checked, and probably more on his youtube account! This will be a neat opportunity to get some of my creative writing in front of a larger audience! Wish me luck eh?
Another possible opportunity of writing takes a slightly less creative side to writing and more of a journalism style. I auditioned for a copy position on the yearbook staff at the college I'm attending! The submission deadline is June 30th, so I probably can't expect to know if I made it or not till after that, but I'm excited! Journalism sounds quite fun and I hope I'll be given a chance to try my hand at it over the upcoming school year!
Another slightly different writing opportunity, and if your any kind of writer I would suggest going for this, I am looking into is writing some Flash Fiction! A flash fiction is a story in 1000 words or less. I have almost determined that NaNoWriMo has killed any short story like that in my abilities list, but I'm willing to attempt it. This will be a good learning opportunity for me to control my words and become more concise, which IS needed to an extent. I found a flash fiction website through a friend (a link to his blog will be at the bottom of the post) which publishes short fiction! Not only will I get to try at getting more work publish, pushing my name outwards, if they use your flash fiction they pay $50 per story used! A totally cool writing opportunity.
Just some opportunities and stuff coming up, stay tuned, subscribe and the such!

Kara -- Alley of Anthros
Wrote this on a rainy day in Florida. This small paragraph, turned excerpt, started an adventure of pure imagination, excitement, and imagery for me. The story of Kara, although not completely worked out yet, excites me immensely! Many have already seen this on my Facebook but for the blog's first excerpt I wanted to begin with this!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The rain came down in jaw clenching, bone numbing torrents. Thunder rumbled in the distance echoing around the grey city of Anthros. No one was out on the streets if they could help it. Kara, like so many her age, couldn't. The chilled water ran in streams through her soft brown hair splashing onto the cobblestone alley. She watched as two Royal Guards strode by importantly. Their metal covered hands, held to their breastplates, shined in the dim light. They took no notice of her and turned the corner. Kara was just resolving to sit down under an overhang, that didn't quite block the rain, when a thickly cloaked man slid around the corner breathlessly. His shoulder smacked the slimy wall. Pushing himself off he flew down the alley towards her. Shouts of angry men followed just around the alley's mouth. Kara braced herself ready to fight back. In the city even the girls knew how to fight, if they had to. The man, whom Kara could now see had a short trimmed white beard, skidded to a stop feet from her. His vibrant blue eyes looked her up and down finally locking on her dull grey ones. Kara breathed calmly staring the man back down. He was tall but that was his only impressive feature. Besides that he was just like the rest of Anthros. Well, besides the eyes too. Kara thought her curiosity pulling at her. He smiled slowly as the shouts neared and the two soldiers that had just walked past Kara rounded the corner, weapons drawn. The man looked back and then snapped his fingers toward the end of the alley. A roar of tremendous wind crashed into the Guards, dinting their armor and sending them off clattering into the street. Kara's eyes widened and to her shame a small but audible gasp breached her lips.
"Now," he said in a soft whisper looking up at her bemused, "let's learn to fly, shall we?" He extended his hand that was covered in a grey glove with the fingers cut out. To this day Kara can't explain what made her take the strangers hand. But she did know that once her feet left the muddy, cold, and wet cobble of Anthros her life was changed for an eternity. She closed her eyes as they rushed upward feeling the wind caress her cheek.

3..2..1..BLOG!
I'm sitting here highly satisfied with myself while drinking a can of Mountain Frost (an off brand of Mountain Dew my mom thinks is cheaper). I have successfully created a blog for my writing endeavors! After a couple hours of being totally confused, I believe I have actually gotten it figured out and to where I can start.
I have been a writer and author for a few years now and I have always wanted to start a blog to post snippets of my writing and the like but had always put it off. Now I'm finally starting, and we'll see how it goes. I have a ton of plans on what to post here, from short stories of mine to excerpts of larger works in progress (helps me enjoy it more when others can read bits and pieces along the way), perhaps some accounts of my writing life, and tales from the front lines of NaNoWriMo starting November etc, etc. I'm hoping to post regularly so subscribe and the such so you know when I've posted new things!
But, for now I'm going to get away from the keyboard for a bit to relax my sore muscles after being hunched over trying to figure out starting the blog. Cheers mates! Remember to always smile!
